Workshop: "I Want to Write, But...!"

Release the Writer in You!

Let Marita Golden show you how to get your words
from your head and heart onto the page.

"I Want to Write, But...!"

I need:

  • To know how to give myself permission to write.

  • A user friendly road map to the writing life.

  • To determine and define the writer I want to be.

  • To stop believing the ten lies that keep me from writing.

  • To know how to make and keep a writing agreement with myself.

  • To know how a commitment to writing can free me to find time for writing and change my life.

"Contrary to the popular belief that writing is an unnatural act, and that it is only for a gifted few, in thirty years of teaching I have learned that writing, like speaking, is a natural act that human beings are born to commit. Our lives are complex narratives. Our imagination is a portal into worlds that enlarge and sometimes save us. Writing is the tool we instinctively want to use to express and preserve our creativity and our deepest feelings."

Workshop Retreat: How It Works

The "I Want to Write, But..." Workshop provides an intimate setting where writers at all levels of expertise, beginning and advanced, can be in community with others on the same path, find support for their writing goals and dreams, and unleash the power of their unique voice and story.

Why are you blocked? Why can't you complete projects you begin? These are questions we will answer in this workshop in a supportive, nurturing environment. This workshop will free you to write with regularity and from a creative consciousness that releases the stories that you really want to tell. This is a class for writers of any genre (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, journalism) who are ready to give themselves permission to write consistently and with power and who need a road map to the writing life. In class writing exercises, discussion of your writing as well as published writing samples, and in-depth critique of your attitudes about writing are just a part of the course. This course is devoted to freeing the writer inside you so that you can find and claim your true voice.

Tuition: $305.00

Cancellation policy: If enrollees are unable to attend the workshop, a course credit will be issued to be used for the same class at a later date. If workshop is cancelled by workshop leader, the class will be rescheduled.
